THE NEW KNEE JOINT SMART IP

I am an independent learner, 01/23/2007

The new knee joint Smart IP allows the prosthetic wearer to program the joint themselves to suit their own needs. The microprocessor regulated swing phase is adaptive and independently adjusts to the respective walking characteristics of the wearer. External programming help is not needed. The pneumatic swing phase in combination with the microprocessor control runs very smoothly and provides problem-free transitioning between walking speeds.

The joint accesses the standing phase protection of the tested, load-dependent drum brake system. The Bouncy-Element ensures a physiologically secure gait pattern. Energy is provided by commonly sold batteries. During power or electric disturbances the swing phase control maintains an average walking speed.
