4th Bauerfeind Phlebology Award

The Announcement of 4th Bauerfeind Phlebology Award has raised a broad level of interest in the professional field. By the time of the deadline on March 30, 2007, numerous study designs from countries such as Slovenia, Poland, France, The Netherlands and Switzerland were received.
Applicants entered the competition with different kinds of research projects on compression therapy. For example, there was one study design that compared compression therapy with a special kind of laser varicose vein treatment. Others study designs dealt with hypotonic Phlebopathy or the influence of pressure conditions on venous leg ulcers.
The jury is made up of internationally recognized specialists, chaired by Professor Dr. Hugo Partsch and will evaluate the study designs entered into the contest within the coming weeks. The most remarkable accomplishment will be honoured with the Bauerfeind Phlebology Award, presented on occasion of the Asian Chapter Meeting of the International Union of Phlebology on June 18 to 20, 2007. At the same event, the winner of last year’s contest, Dr. Christina Jeanneret, will present the results of her studies.
The winner of the award will receive a total of 20,000 Euros. With a bonus of 10,000 Euros, the jury will instantly honour the study design for a planned research project. The second half of the amount will be awarded to the winner, if he or she presents research results in relation to the respective study design in the field of compression therapy within the coming 18 months.
