Bauerfeind Competence Center opens in Romania, 05/07/2009

Since May 1 Bauerfeind AG has had a presence in Romania. Last week the Thuringian manufacturer of medical aids celebrated the opening of its specialist retail shop in Cluj. Alongside Bauerfeind products from all business units, the Center is also equipped with the Image 3D and MediLogic measurement systems.

“Previously patients usually had to go to private clinics and practices in the hope of finding Western standards in the Romanian healthcare system. We now offer customers the opportunity to get quality products made in Germany here in Cluj as befitting the good level of care in the private sector,” explains Ulf Harzmann, International Sales Manager at Bauerfeind.

Cluj, located in Transylvania in the north of the country, is Romania’s second largest city with over 600,000 inhabitants and is the most important university city.
“With Bauerfeind, we are pleased to have high quality orthopedic aids at our disposal in Romania at last,” stressed Professor Dr. Dan Lucaciu during the opening ceremony. The chief orthopedic surgeon at the University Hospital in Cluj thanked Bauerfeind and the local Bauerfeind representative Ortomed “for investing in Romania.”

The product range at the new Competence Center encompasses Bauerfeind supports, orthoses and compression stockings, as well as orthopedic insoles and prosthetic components. Chief surgeon Professor Dr. Dan Lucaciu and 40 professional colleagues followed the presentation of the measurement systems with keen interest. They also took advantage of the exhibition to find out in detail about the functionality and mode of action of, and the indications for, individual products.
