Bauerfeind opens subsidiary in Dubai, 10/27/2008
Bauerfeind AG, based in Zeulenroda in Thuringia, is continuing to expand its global distribution network. At the end of October the medical products manufacturer is opening its Middle East subsidiary with an office in Dubai. “As a business location, the United Arab Emirates have gained enormously in importance in recent years. We want to grow together with this market,” explains Chairman of the Management Board Prof. Hans B. Bauerfeind.
Parallel to the dynamic growth of the national economy the Emirate of Dubai has been making a considerable effort to have international clinics, physicians and service providers set up shop locally for some years now. The most important project is Dubai Healthcare City, an approximately 125-hectare zone for all types of medical facilities, where the mission is to offer not only healthcare services, but also research and development according to international standards. The first sections of the largest “healthcare city” in the world, with around 350 clinics and healthcare-related facilities, as well as hotels, apartment blocks and supply operations, have already been completed.
Presentation rooms and showrooms in Dubai Healthcare City
The new Bauerfeind subsidiary has its office, including presentation rooms and showrooms and the Bauerfeind Academy, in Dubai Healthcare City. Sales representatives for the Middle East region also have their offices there. “High quality products made in Germany, such as those we offer, are very highly regarded here,” reports Karl Schmidt, Bauerfeind General Manager Middle East & Africa.
Cooperation with German physicians is also in demand. The Rashid Hospital in Dubai, which has over 600 beds, is using the opening of the Bauerfeind offices in Dubai Healthcare City as an occasion to organize a conference on October 29. “New knee, back and hip products” is the main topic. The speakers include Prof. Jürgen Harms, Senior Physician, SRH Klinikum Karlsbad-Langensteinbach, Prof. Bernhard Greitemann, Medical Director, Klinikum Münsterland Bad Rothenfelde, and Prof. Rolf Haaker, Head Physician, St. Vincenz-Hospital Brakel. They are members of the scientific advisory council and medical consultants to Bauerfeind AG. Chairman of the Management Board Prof. Hans B. Bauerfeind will open the conference.
