Step Down Then Back

Knee Injury Recovery Exercise

Physical Therapy Videos Put Together By Real Orthopedic Specialists To Help You Recover And Stay Injury-Free.

Strengthen the muscles that move and support the hip and knee.

The Bauerfeind GenuTrain Knee Support can help your rehab performance by providing medical-grade compression and stability.

Begin standing on an exercise step or box measuring approximately 6” tall. Shift your weight onto the foot to be exercised. Step forward and touch down on the free foot, but do not transfer weight. The knee of the leg on which you’re standing bends as you step forward.

Step up and then back, touching down behind you on the free foot. The knee on the leg on which you’re standing straightens when you step up and bends again when touching down behind you.

One forward and backwards step counts as a single repetition. Perform all movements in a controlled fashion. Relax and repeat as your ability allows.
